Top7Trail August

Last day of August and everyone is heading out of town for the holiday weekend.  We’ll be at the shop all weekend selling these Hot Shoes!! Here are our best-selling shoes for the month of August:

Men’s Top7Trail

  1. Altra Lone Peak 4 – The LP franchise goes in a new direction with version 4–and folks seem to be really liking the changes!!  It fits wider and bigger than LP 3.5.  It has better traction and is lighter.  Downside: a bit less cushion.  Altra Superior Fans are calling it a more cushioned Superior.  Check it out!!
  2. Salomon Ultra Pro – These new shoes show zero availability on our Salomon ordering site.  They are hot here and apparently everywhere else!!  We still have all sizes available except men’s 7, 10, 11.5.  They are wider and more cushioned than the S Lab Sense Ultra.
  3. Altra Olympus 3.0 – The oversized Mega Cushioned Altra keeps chugging along!!  v3.0 goes back to a feel closer to the 2.0, quite different than the v2.5.
  4. Hoka Torrent  – Torrent contiues to impress:  2 Demo Opportunities this weekend. 9/1 at 8:30am; 9/2 at 10am
  5. Hoka Speedgoat 2 – New colors have kept the Speedgoat 2 fresh; as the weather turns wet, we expect to sell more.
  6. Altra Superior 3.5 – As we said, folks are calling the new Lone Peak a beefier Superior.  Superior is much more “fitted” than Lone Peaks though, so best for feet that aren’t as wide.
  7. Topo MT2 – The MT2 is a lot like the Superior but with a 3mm heel to toe drop.

Women’s Top7Trail

  1. Altra Lone Peak 4 – Some women have sized down in the LP4 too from their LP3.5 size.
  2. Hoka Torrent – Torrent is the sweet spot of trail running shoes this season:  Enough cushion without feeling like your on stilts; light; great traction; 5mm heel to toe drop. Wide but not too wide.
  3. Hoka Speedgoat 2
  4. Brooks Caldera 2 – Get your Calderas before December and the crazy new Caldera 3 color comes out 😀
  5. Altra Timp – The Fit 4 Her on these seems to be really dialed in:  Women’s Timp fits the average woman’s foot better than the Men’s Timp fits the average man’s foot.
  6. New Balance Summit Unknown – The summit may be unknown, but we know why these sell: They’re light and fast feeling; snug in the right spots but not too tight in the toe box.
  7. Altra Superior 3.5

  • UROC: phil’s report

UROC is a race that has intrigued me since it’s origin several years ago–because of where it started: just outside of Charlottesville, VA, close to my wife’s family. Last year it moved to Vail, CO; This year it moved to Copper Mt., CO. I found myself towing the line at the event for the first…

For several years now #seeyouinsquaw has been a popular hashtag for the Western States Endurance Run.
