Best Selling Trail Shoes–By the Numbers

Spring is here and it’s a great time to check in to see what’s selling!

Here’s our favorite Top 7 list to do: Best Selling Trail Shoes

1) Tie! Just like an Ian Sharman and Sage Canaday photo finish, these two shoes are racing for first!

Scott Kinabalu 2.0 — This shoe has picked up where last year’s model left off.  It finished 2013 as our #1 mens shoe and #2 for women.  The upper improved this year, accommodating wider feet and feeling better right out of the box. A must try for all who walk into the shop!

Hoka One One Rapa Nui Trail (men’s name) Kailua Trail (women’s name) — Everyone is intrigued by Hoka running shoes and these are by far the most “normal” feeling–offering a great place to start your venture into “over-sized” shoes.  One big downside is that, in the Hoka line-up, they are probably the least accommodating of wide feet.

3) Altra Lone Peak 1.5 — All the buzz has been about the new Altra shoe, the Olympus, but the Lone Peak is holding its own!  Folks who have had it before have a hard time finding anything better.  This is probably our widest fitting trail shoe.  Not minimal; not oversized.  It is “zero-drop” but comes with all the cushion of a “normal” shoe and offers exceptional rock protection and traction.

4)  Pearl Izumi Trail M2 —  The Pearl Izumi Trail M2 and Trail N2 are so similar, you really have to try on both to see which is for you! On some days my feet like the N2 better; on other days I like the M2 better…You might just have to buy both!

5) Altra Olympus — Going into the oversized market for the first time, the Olympus does not disappoint the wide foot looking for more cushion!  It is very much a “hybrid” shoe however, with very little traction to speak of.  Some people love it; some hate it.  You won’t know unless you try!

6) Hoka One One Stinson Trail — The workhouse trainer and recovery shoe.  Still king of the oversized trail shoes!

7) Tie!

Pearl Izumi N2 Trail and Montrail Bajada
