After a rocky college running career, I thought I would hang up my shoes and hit the books instead. I went to grad school to study exercise physiology and human movement science, dove into the research on mountain/ultra running and the physiological toll its takes on the body and thought; this is absolutely ridiculous, where do I sign up? My running rebirth began. It didn’t hurt that I was living in a cabin in the sticks, at the base of the Manastash ridge, the gateway into the same gnarly terrain you will find in Rainshadow Running’s Yakima Skyline Rim course. Like so many others, trading in the pavement for the variable terrain offered by the trails has kept my body (and mind) a lot healthier and happier. I had a super fun debut season last year. I packed in a ton of back country running and had some great races as well as some less-than-great “learning experiences”… or more honestly termed “major blowups” on the trail. I learned a lot and was welcomed into the Seattle trail-scene by the gang here at Seven Hills. I am looking forward to another season on the trails while rocking the 7!
