Top7Trail July

July brought us some cool New Trail Shoes from Altra, Brooks, Topo, and Salomon–and the big winner was Altra!! Not only did the brand new Olympus 4 dominate the sales charts, we also saw a resurgence of sales of the Lone Peak 4.5 and Timp 2.0.

The bust of the month was the lack of Nike Pegasus Trail 2. We were excited for those, but supply was low and we’re still unclear if we’ll get any soon.

We were lucky to receive our big Olympus 4 order on time; we heard many shops didn’t get any–and Altra themselves did not have the shoes on their site to sell most of July. Lack of places to buy was a win for us as we shipped Olympus all over the country.

The same happened with the all new Brooks Catamount. These shoes were so hush hush that Brooks made us take down our social media marketing campagin touting their sweetness. We still managed to sell quite a few, shipping nation wide.

Altra as a brand surged back to the top! We sold 32% Altra and 27% Hoka for July. 3rd was Topo at 15.5% and Brooks 13.7% was 4th. The “other” category making up about 10% was led by La Sportiva.

Already for August we’ve received the new Brooks Cascadia 15.

1. Altra Olympus 4 – Here’s an idea: more brands should let run specialty shops like ours have a couple weeks to sell them before they hit everywhere. It worked out awesome for us this time!
2. Altra Lone Peak 4.5 – Unbelievable that the LP’s sales were sliding so much, but they came back to life in July!
