Jodee Adams-Moore Post Red Hot 55k interview

Jodee’s Desert Vacation

1) You won the Red Hot 55k in Moab, UT, yesterday. Congratulations! Have you ever done two solid races like this (Orcas 50k and Red Hot) in a 2 week span?
The last–and only time–I raced two ultras in two weeks was Speedgoat 50k and then Angels Staircase 60k this past summer. I ran strong at both but then was out for a month and a half with a very angry knee–an overuse IT band issue.

2) How does your body feel? Will you take it easy until the Chuckanut 50k?
I am happy to report that I feel great!–minus one lil’ blister and tight calves. My plan is to run easy this week, get a second week of one longer run and some speed stuff and then ease off the week leading up to Chuckanut 50k.
3) Did you run in the Scott Kinabalu again?
I ran in the racing ones–the Scott Trail Rocket.
4) Did you have trouble navigating the slick rock? Did you run with or see anyone you knew?
The slick rock was one tough puppy!  I managed to navigate it well and usually had a few men up ahead or behind me to help when the course ribbons were not obvious.
5) Will you do red hot 55k again?
Perhaps. The desert down there is other worldly.
6) I saw you wearing your plain black top again. Is that a lucky shirt? Your Team 7hills singlet is in the works–I promise!!
That was a different shirt than last time. I just pick something out the day before that looks like it will work for the weather and be comfy.  I need a jersey! I’d like to REPRESENT.

7) Is your artistic style more Moab or Bellingham?
A little bit of Moab and a whole lotta Bellingham. Two of my favorite painters are Georgia O’Keeffe and Emily Carr. I often think of them while running through landscapes that look like places they would have spent soul-time in. Besides their lush paintings, they were bad ass, ahead-of-their-time women who took risks in the name of passion. Look at this:

–Phil: Well, you are the first team 7hills runner to win back to back races! Thanks so much! You are very impressive!

–Jodee: Thank you Phil and Seven Hills and to all you trail junkies!
