Two weeks from right about now, Walmsley and Hazen will probably be finished resting near the track in Auburn CA after completing the Western States Endurance Run 100 Miler. Hopefully I’ll still be plodding along, inching closer to that same track.
I’m super excited that the time has finally come. I’ll be back at States soon!! I’m stoked that Hoka is the title sponsor. I’m grateful that all the runners can start all at once at the same time!! I can’t wait until everyone is yelling out the countdown, “10, 9, 8, 7…”
My training didn’t go amazing in May, but it wasn’t horrible either. I’m feeling rested and strong. And I know I’m not over-trained, a feeling I had going into my last two 100 mile events.
I still haven’t officially picked my States Shoe!! Although there’s a leading candidate of course. More on that riveting decision soon 😁
Now I’m watching a lot of old Western States videos by Billy Yang, The Ginger Runner, and others including a great 4min clip of the climb up devils thumb posted by a friend of the shop, Mark Cliggett.
