The twenties start tomorrow!!!
Here are the 7 New Trail Shoes we’re roaring the most about for next year!!
- Hoka SpeedGoat 4 Wide Width option – They came in a few days early, so come on in and try them out soon!
- Altra Timp 2.0 – These will be in early January. A bit lighter than previous Timps with stickier rubber (MaxTrac) and the Quantic midsole material giving it a slightly softer feel.
- Saucony Xodus 10 – (February) The ISO is gone; the fit seems improved if you prefer a wider feel. Great cushion without too tall of a stack.
- Brooks Caldera 4 – (February 15th) We think Brooks finally nailed it: a shoe that feels like a Hoka in terms of cushion but has a great upper and a fit that should appeal to the masses. Tread is much improved compared to previoius Calderas–a totally different shoe compared to previous calderas.
- Nike Pegasus Trail 2 – (July) It’s the new Peg Trail…not sure why it’s not v37–forgot to ask because I was blown away by how cool it was. Great cushion, much wider toe box. Completely different than v36.
- Salomon Sense 4 / Pro – These are for sure the continuation of the Sense Pro line, but for some reason they didn’t call it the Sense Pro 4. It feels like a much better version of the Sense Pro 3–better upper, slightly more cushion, slightly more flexible; still nimble and fast feeling. It feels more like the Sense Pro v1 with the traction of the Sense Pro v3.
- Tie – There’s a top secret Hoka Trail Shoe and Brooks Trail Shoe in the works for 2020. We don’t know anything about the Hoka one…but we’re in! Well we were certainly out of the loop! The secret hoka is the TenNine and it was never offered to us. The Brooks one will come out in August; we tried on a sample and it feels great. Can’t say much about it now.
Honorable Mentions
- Altra Youth Lone Peak – Altra has a kids Lone Peak which will be in the shop possibly by the weekend. This will be the first real kids trail runner we’ve ever had. The kids sportiva’s we had before were just awful and in general a lot of kids shoes look and feel like clunkers. These kids LPs should be slick!
- Salomon Sense Ride 3 (February) – More cushion and a slightly wider fit.
- Nike Wildhorse 6 (April) – Complete overhaul
- Altra Olympus 4 (July) – Big changes are promised here…but a big $170 price tag. Should be a lighter more runnable Olympus…but the Olympus 3.5 feels pretty good to us.
- Merrell Antora X Trail Sisters – A shoe with a unique Trail Sisters inspired design. It’ll look so good on our wall of trail shoes–and on your feet!
- Hoka Torrent 2 (May) – More of the same awesomeness that was the Torrent v1, just a nicer upper.
- Scarpa Rush – A very unique higer cushioned shoe. We’ve never seen anything like it…just worried it might be a bit heavy
